Hello, I am very new in tole painting. I was blessed to find Jamie Mills. Got her books and dvd, all kind of paints and brushes. I just need the skills to paint. I am trying to use this painting in figurines thatr I make with the cold porcelain, so the surface it is very vey smooth. I like to know if someone had worked with cold porcelain, and if we can use the same brushes that it is used to paint in wood. It is very much possible that I am having trouble because of my lack of experience. Thanks so much. Namaste

Thanks Lu Ann and Ann Perz.
This cold porcelain craft is big in Argentina and South America. And I strongly beleive that it can be enbelished with the beautifull painting style that Jamie has. I keep on buying brushes to paint better, LOL. Afraid to admit that it is me, LOL.  I can not wait to have an  oportunity to meet Jamie, and all of you guys in one her conventions. Namaste

Amira,
I have painted on alot of porcelain, however not cold porcelain, and I always mist the piece with a matte spray like Krylon or Decoart.  It gives some tooth to the smooth surface for the paint to stick.  I don't know about cold porcelain but the porcelain I have painted on was murder on the brushes but it is fun to paint on. Your snowman is soooo cute!!!  It would be so neat to paint Jamies designs on the porcelain figures, etc. One thing about painting its unlimited in the idea department and so much fun!!!!
Happy painting, Patricia

Hi Girls,,,How did you get the body parts to stay onto your figurine? Did you glue them? I would love to try a few little things with this cold porcelain!

Hi all,

Sorry I am late. Amira, your painting and sculpting(?) is very good for a beginner.

I know next to nothing about cold porcelain really, I am sorry to say, so not much help there. Not sure how hard it would be on your brushes; are you using regular acrylics?

You have a nice touch, really, and love to see what you have created. It takes talent to create the image in 3D...good job!

Hugs, Jamie

Namaste,

I hope I am replying in the correct area.

LuAnn, I used a styrofoam ball and cover it with cold porcelain clay, and another ball for the head , and I glue it toghether.

Patricia, thanks for the sugestion, I am going to try to spray it.

Ann Perz, I am continuing practicing, I am making new piece, and I can say that I am getting more confortable with the brushes.

Thanks Jamie for the compliment, it does encourages me to stay extra hours painting.

Thanks to all for the kindness

Namaste

Hi Ann, thanks for the compliment on my ornaments. I am pratcing everyday.
About the cold porcelain, sometimes I make my own, and also I buy mine from Brasil, it is a lot less expensive. I had seen some online, but they are to expensive, double the price. I get the clay for the half of the price from Brasil.
Blessings
Amira
